Mac Magic
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to utilize the tools on their MacBook to create instructional content.
1. Photobooth
An easy way to capture images is using Photo Booth.
Explore Photobooth. Take several images and videos.
2. Skitch - Screen Capture Software
Download Skitch from the Mac App Store here.
Here is video on how to use Skitch.
Open Skitch
Annotate an image you took in Photobooth.
Classroom Applications:
Annotate / mark up documents with students. This can be worksheets, student work, images, etc.
Documents save as either images (JPG's) or PDF's.
Upload PDF's and JPG's to Google Drive and share with students and teachers.
3. Preview
Create a PDF from Safari and annotate it with Preview.
Preview can resize images as well as annotate on them.
Create PDF's from any paper via the copy machine.
Annotate and share in Google Drive.
Classroom Applications:
Paperless grading! Annotate student work and return the papers to them in Google Drive.
4. Quicktime
Create screencasts in a snap and team teach with yourself!
Open QuickTime Player --> File --> New Screen Recording.
Make sure the microphone is on (first time, must choose the built in microphone).
Record full screen or a section of the screen.
Videos can be uploaded to YouTube, Shared in Google Drive, or in iTunes U.
Classroom Applications:
Record screencasts for instruction, remediation, or reading tests. Easy to share with students who are absent or just returning to school. A fabulous way to review concepts and study for tests.

5. Creation Time
Create a screencast using a combination of annotated images. Use Skitch, Preview or both and record your narration in a Quicktime screencasts.
6. Gallery Walk
Show and share your work in a gallery walk to conclude our session.
